Adaptation of opera libretti for sur-/subtitles
Translation of sur-/subtitles Coordination of the sur-/subtitles score |
When adapting libretti for sur-/subtitles I start with a profound analysis of the libretto and the opera, as well as the staging. This provides the audience with coherent sur-/subtitles regarding content and style. When translating sur-/subtitles the historic and linguistic qualities of the opera are adapted with today's language in mind. The harmony between a comprehensive translation, its coordination in the sur-/subtitles with the musical score and the staging will meet the expectations of a demanding audience.

New productions, coproductions, as well as revivals bring together artists from various countries for several weeks. Perfect understanding is a prerequisite for good cooperation and a successful production. I assist opera houses in language matters (utilizing my four languages) during the preparation of the entire production, thus insuring efficient and sensitive communication in the artistic and administrative area.

According to the Wold Federation of Music Therapy music therapy “is the professional use of music and its elements as an intervention in medical, educational, and everyday environments with individuals, groups, families, or communities who seek to optimize their quality of life and improve their physical, social, communicative, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual health and wellbeing. Research, practice, education, and clinical training in music therapy are based on professional standards according to cultural, social, and political contexts” (WFMT, 2011).
As music therapist I use music and its elements (sound, rhythm, melody and harmony) to build a therapeutic relationship and tailor interventions to the patients needs to achieve the previously established goals.
